Hi! I’m Scott Sherwood - Helping you get the body YOU want!

Biography

I was born in Brisbane, Australia. At school I had above average grades - ok, I was the class geek! I always had my head in a book, sport was the last thing on his mind. And yes, I was always the last picked for any team - when I could be bothered to take my gym kit.

At the age of 11, I saw my first bodybuilding magazine and knew then that was what I wanted to look like when I was older. Those plans were put on hold for a few years while I focussed on my education, resulting in a Bachelor of Science in biology, statistics and pure mathematics. Also, the metabolism didn't help. Picture a mouse in a wheel that's running and running and running….it was that fast.

I started training at 17. I had a barbell and some dumbbells and I'd train out in the back yard. No bench and no idea what I was supposed to do. By this time, I was 193cm (6'3'') and a rather skinny 74kgs (165lbs). Like most people, I followed what I read in the bodybuilding magazines. Of course, this didn't work.

Best thing to do was to get more education. I did the Fitness Leaders course through the Brisbane branch of the Y.M.C.A and then went on to do the Resistance Training course as well. This is how I qualified to be a personal trainer. I did it for my own knowledge. I had no idea in later life it would come to be my way to earn a crust!

So, of course, the first person I applied all this training and nutrition knowledge to was myself. I am now at 102kgs (225lbs) and still love going to the gym! As I say, 'My body is my business card."

I moved to London 13 years ago. At first I worked in the truly exciting world of pensions. However, I wanted to train others in my passion - getting others to shape their bodies so that they too were proud of the work they had done, and the results they had gained.

I began work as a trainer at my gym of six years in 2004, branching out to freelance personal training in 2005. I set up a private studio in Wimpole Street, W1 but now I work out of Muscleworks in Bethnal Green. You just can't beat the gym experience!

I prefer not to use the term bodybuilding as this gives people the wrong idea about their training and how they will look. I like 'body sculpting' instead - seeing the body as a piece of clay that the owner can shape as desired. Whether that sculpting is gaining muscle or losing size, the principles are the same. It's all a matter of training consistently and monitoring a person's diet. With these in place, anything can be achieved.

So that's me. I'm happy to say I'm a person who loves his job - and I want to share that enthusiasm with everyone I train.
